NOC Tonkawa broke open a close game in the third quarter and pulled away from Western 95-74 in the OCAC Conference opener Thursday night in Tonkawa.
Allison Green led four Lady Mavs in double figures with 24 points while Brooke Robertson added 19, Jordan Holman 18, and Kaydrin Scott 12.
"Good first game to open conference play," said coach Greg Krause. "I thought we responded well to their strong start in the first half. We began adjusting to their transition offense which was hurting us early. We had a good, balanced scoring attack. I thought our freshmen showed a lot of progress from the start of the season."
The Lady Mavs led 56-55 mid-way in the third quarter, then went on a 16-7 run to take a 72-62 lead after three quarters.
NOC then dominated the fourth quarter opening the period with a 12-0 run to put the Lady Pioneers away coasting to the 95-74 win.
The Lady Mavs (3-6) are at NEO Monday night at 5:30 p.m.
