Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers Fall on the Road to Southeastern

The Rangers fell on Saturday evening 106-91 to Southeastern Oklahoma State following two impressive shooting nights by each team. Northwestern  shot 61.3% from the field while Southeastern was able to shoot 50% from three knocking down 12 of them to help lead to their 106-91 lead.  

Northwestern falls to 4-4 on the season with an 0-4 Great American Conference record. Malik Parsons led all scorers with 30 points the second time he has hit 30 this season. Parsons also led with six assists on the evening. Brian Free had 19 with Butters having 11 for the other two double figure scorers.  

First Half.

Southeastern opened the game with four straight points following a three pointer by Richardson but Northwestern answered right back as Larry White had Northwestern on the board at the 18:40 mark. After two minutes of scoreless basketball Southeastern was able to get a dunk by RJ Weeks.The Rangers trailed 10-7 following a three pointer by Free to carry the game into the first media timeout. Out of the break Southeastern scored the first five points to take a 15-7 lead building an eight point lead. Parsons had the answer though, scoring five straight to trail 17-12. Halfway through the first half the Rangers trailed 29-19 as the Savage Storm built their largest lead to this point at 29-19.  

Out of the break Parsons knocked down a three pointer as the Rangers trailed by seven at 35-28. Marquise Milton hit a jump shot just inside the paint to cut the deficit down to 37-32. Rangers got as close as 37-34 with 6:01 left to play before Southeastern silenced the run with a three pointer. Jareon Mayo hit his first shot to bring the Rangers within four.Mayo scored five points to have Northwestern back within one at 44-43 but Southeastern answered with five straight going back up by six points. The Savage Storm pushed their lead back to 10 at 57-47. However the Rangers scored five straight in the matter of three game seconds on a three point play by Parsons before a steal and a layup by Free. Northwestern trailed 57-52 at the half. 

SECOND HALF:

Parsons opened the second half with a layup to cut the deficit down to three at 57-54. Northwestern would get as close as one again this time at 61-60 on a layup by Chance Love but Southeastern answered by extending it back to 66-60 on a three pointer by Condriff. The Rangers did not go anywhere as Free hit a three pointer bringing the Rangers back within one at 66-65. Southeastern brought the lead back to nine on a three by CLouet and a layup.  

Chance Love hit a shot to bring the Rangers back within one possession at 79-76. The two programs battled trading points as the Rangers stayed within striking distance for a while. Clouet buried a three pointer to extend their lead to 11 at 91-80. Southeastern continued to match the Rangers from there as the offenses shot the ball well. Southeastern finished the game on a 15-9 run to take their largest lead at 15 points and carry a 106-91 victory over the Rangers on Saturday evening.  

The Rangers will begin New Year on January 5th against Southern Arkansas in Alva at Percefull Fieldhouse following the Lady Rangers game.
