Oklahoma State University Cowgirl Tennis Recognized In ITA And Big 12 Preseason Rankings | Oklahoma State University
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team will begin the 2023 season ranked No. 13 in the 2023 ITA Division I Preseason Poll and No. 3 in the Big 12 Tennis Preseason Poll. Both rankings were released today by the ITA and Big 12 Conference.
OSU enters 2023 following a 20-6 record last season, including a 7-2 mark in conference action, and a third-place finish in the Big 12.
In the ITA rankings, three other Big 12 teams were selected in the top 25 with Texas at No. 1, Oklahoma at No. 4 and Iowa State at No. 22. Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech received votes.
In the Big 12 poll, the rankings were put to a vote by the league's head coaches. The Cowgirls received 61 points in the poll.
Last year's NCAA national champion and runner-up were the only two teams to top the Cowgirls in the rankings. Texas received 80 points while Oklahoma tallied 73 points. Iowa State (59), Kansas (46), Baylor (43), Texas Tech (33), TCU (29), Kansas State (16) and West Virginia (10) rounded out the rest of the top 10.
The Cowgirls will begin their spring season Jan. 13-15 at the Freeman Memorial Tournament in Las Vegas. OSU will return home to the Greenwood Tennis Center on Jan. 27 to compete at the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
