Enid Police Department Scam Alert | Enid Police Department

We are warning of a scam being perpetrated upon the residents of Enid.

In this scam, the potential victim receives a text message from the actual Enid Police Department non-emergency number, (580) 242-7000. The scammer instructs the would-be victim to answer the next call they receive.

When the call from another number is answered, the would-be victim is told they have outstanding arrest warrants and need to send money to take care of the warrants.

The would-be victims are sent barcodes via text message and told to place money the accounts associated with those bar codes.

To be clear, the Enid Police Department would NEVER ask for money to be sent to avoid an arrest or for payment to be made to the department for a warrant.

If you receive such a call just refuse to answer, or just hang up the phone.
